Connect the extension
Choose "Browser extension" in the new-guide wizard and install the Wakeline extension from the prompt. It links to your project with one click.
Navigate to the real screen
Log into your app as you normally would and open the exact page — say, your billing settings. The extension overlays the builder right there.
Build with full parity
Pick elements, anchor tooltips, set placements, and reorder steps — the extension has the same inspector as the on-site builder, including "advance on click" and hidden-menu handling.
Publish to everyone
The finished guide is stored in Wakeline like any other flow. Anyone who hits that page with the SDK installed sees it — no extension needed on their side.

Your site embeds fine
If your pages load in the on-site builder, use that — it is one less moving part, and you can switch between guides and pages faster inside a single tab.
You are guiding people through someone else's software
Wakeline renders guides on sites where your snippet is installed. The extension lets you build on any page you can open, but end users only see guides on your own product.
The page is native mobile
The extension builds on web pages in a desktop browser. For iOS and Android apps, use the mobile SDKs' supported surfaces instead of trying to mirror a web tour.

Do my users need the extension to see guides?
No — only the person building does. Published guides are delivered by the Wakeline snippet on your site. The extension exists purely so you can build on pages that refuse to load inside the web builder.
Why do some pages need the extension at all?
Many apps send security headers that block being embedded in an iframe. That is good hygiene on their part, but it stops the on-site builder from loading the page — the extension sidesteps it by running directly in your own browser tab.
Is it safe to run on my signed-in session?
The extension activates only when you start a build from Wakeline, and it edits guide content — it does not read your app's data. Your session stays in your browser; what gets saved to Wakeline is the guide definition.
Can I build on our staging environment?
Yes — open staging in your browser and build there. Since guides target elements and URL paths, a guide built on staging works in production as long as the selectors and paths match.
